ABOUT ME
I am a social worker who is registered and in good standing with the College of Social Workers and Social Services Workers (Registration #829095). When I am not supporting clients in my private practice, I work as a social worker and psychotherapist at a family health team in Toronto. I completed my Master of Social Work from the University of Toronto, and have worked and received training at CAMH and York University.
Ongoing learning and growth is important to me. Since completing my Masters’ I have received training in the following therapeutic practices, which I will draw from in our work together: EMDR, internal family systems (IFS), emotion-focused therapy (EFT), dialectic behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, person-centered therapy, and mindfulness and compassion-focused practices. On a personal level, I have explored many forms of meditation, including Vipassana, and am passionate about using mindfulness as a tool for deeper emotional exploration within oneself.
I am also trained to provide two types of structured psychotherapy for the treatment of insomnia and PTSD. Structured psychotherapy is a type of short-term therapy that has been manualized and tested in randomized control trials to ensure its efficacy. In this type of therapy there is a predetermined agenda for each session and homework between sessions. If you are interested in engaging in either cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) or cognitive processing therapy (CPT) for PTSD please let me know and I’d be happy to discuss with you further.
